New life in a former industrial quarter

HIAG has transformed the former industrial site on the Reuss river in Windisch into a vibrant destination. Four residential building projects with approximately 200 rental apartments and condominiums as well as a business park with small offices, workshops and co-working spaces were created in several phases. In the former Swiss army recruiting centre, HIAG created the “Spitzmatt” residence for people with disabilities on behalf of the FARO Foundation. The residence’s gymnasium will be used jointly by the “Spitzmatt” residents, neighbours in the quarter and various regional sports associations. The Kunzareal site is connected to the regional heating grid, about 70% of the primary energy comes from ground water and a high-performance photovoltaic installation at the site produces electricity that can supply approximately 50 apartments.
