back3 questions for Andre Degelo
Published: 30. January 2025
HIAG is active in the areas of property development, portfolio and asset management as well as transactions. But who are the people behind HIAG? With the series "3 questions to", a HIAG employee is introduced every month.
Andre Degelo works as a representative of the building owner at the HIAG office in Zurich.
Describe your job at HIAG: what are you responsible for?
I take over responsibility for projects on behalf of HIAG as soon as they have been approved (including construction) and are ready for construction. Depending on the size of the site, there may be several projects on one site. My job is to represent HIAG's interests in the best possible way. I have overall responsibility for the projects and must always keep track of deadlines, quality and costs. I also have to keep an eye on the future users of the properties and their requirements and needs.
What do you like most about your work at HIAG?
At HIAG, I like the extremely diverse tasks, because our sites are very demanding and challenging. We work on the topics in an interdisciplinary way and also try to break new ground. I also appreciate working in motivated teams and in a modern workplace in the middle of the city of Zurich, just a few steps from the main train station.
What are the biggest challenges in your day-to-day work?
I work in a complex environment with stakeholders such as architects, general contractors and users. It is quite challenging to advance the project while always protecting HIAG's interests. In addition, construction projects today are very demanding, including our current project ALTO in Zurich-Altstetten, where 149 rental apartments are being built on 24 floors. It is one of the first residential high-rises in the Canton of Zurich to be built with a photovoltaic façade. To make this possible, a full-scale fire test had to be carried out in advance with a 1:1 façade sample. These are big, very exciting challenges that enrich my working day and also help me to develop as a person and as a manager.
