On 11 January, the expanded National Judo Centre for French-speaking Switzerland was officially inaugurated at the Village48 site in Yverdon-les-Bains.

The National Judo Centre for Western Switzerland (NJC) has been based in Yverdon-les-Bains since 2019. Its central location has since attracted numerous judo talents from all over Switzerland and complements the second national performance centre in Brugg.

Over the past six months, the existing judo centre, traditionally known as a dojo, has been extensively expanded and modernised. The total area now covers around 740 m², supplemented by a grandstand of almost 70 m². The new dojo thus offers optimal training conditions for judokas at the highest level.

The new dojo is named ‘Frédéric Kyburz’ in honour of the famous Swiss judoka and is the largest dojo in Switzerland. It serves as a neutral, club-independent training facility for local and regional athletes as well as for judokas who compete at the international level or at the Olympic Games.

With this expansion, the National Performance Centre of Western Switzerland is setting new standards in the promotion of Swiss judo and supporting the development of the next generation of top athletes.
